Preseason Match: Boston City 1 Assumption College 2
Tue, Apr 18, 2017 11:07 pm

Boston City FC fell 2-1 to Assumption College on Tuesday night, conceding two late goals after the National Premier Soccer League side’s starting line-up had earned a comfortable 1-0 halftime lead.

Jhonata Batista (pictured) scored for the second preseason match in a row at the 15-minute mark as his corner was initially cleared but then fell back into his path and he blasted home from eight yards out.

Boston City almost doubled the advantage when Isaac Nana Addai latched onto a through ball from Luca Tarable and fired low against the post and the ball flew across the face of goal.

In the first half, coach Palhinha fielded nine of the same starters who beat Southie FC 2-0 last week, with Tarable slotting in to the holding midfield role for Pedro Silva and Bruno Bonicontro replacing injured Homero Morais on the left.  After halftime, a new XI took the field, followed by multiple substitutions, as the majority of the 34-man squad saw action.

The Greyhounds leveled in the 81st minute when Connor Henry barged through the heart of the Lions defense to beat Michael Russo-Penta with a low drive.  Two minutes later, Gabriel Paganini conceded a penalty and although Russo-Penta saved Henry’s initial spot kick, the Assumption captain fired home the rebound for the win.
