Boston City FC assistant coach Andre Mendes has been provided the opportunity to become head coach of Boston City FC Brazil’s recently promoted u17 team.

Mendes will coach the youngsters who won their promotion this past season and will now compete in the first division of the Campeonato Mineiro in 2019.

The Brazilian joined the Lions in Boston prior to the 2018 National Premier Soccer League season and was a member of the staff during the spring campaign. He also assisted with the Boston City’s entry in the Bay State Soccer League team during league action and U.S. Open Cup qualifying.

Both players and coaches from Boston City FC have a pathway to a professional career by spending time with the Lions’ Brazilian sister club in Manhuacu, Minas Gerais.

Mendes boasts extensive experience having coached at Clube do Remo, Tuna Luso, the Coach Tetrabrazil Soccer Camp in Chicago and Denver, Sociedade Desportiva Paraense, São Raimundo Esporte Clube, Pedreira Esporte Clube and Pinheirense Esporte Clube.
