Boston City FC II returns to Bay State Soccer League action on Saturday with the race for promotion in their own hands as they travel to Worcester Warriors.

All Boston City FC II matches are presented by Boston-based recruitment specialist The Gaisce Group.

The third place Lions (7-3-1, 22 points) take on a Warriors (2-9-1, 7 points) team currently tenth in Division 3 North, aiming to add to a four-match winning streak. Boston City II followed up a three-match perfect streak to open the fall half of the BSSL season with a 1-0 U.S. Open Cup victory over Juve Pro Soccer last weekend.

While league leaders Alleghany FC (11-1-0, 33 points) hold pole position for the only automatic promotion place, Boston City II trails second place Southie FC Reserves (8-4-0, 22 points), who occupy the promotion playoff spot, by two points with a game in hand.

Victory in Saturday’s match at Melican Middle School in Northborough at 1pm, coupled with winning the game in hand would mean the Lions control their own promotion destiny. Also in contention are North Shore FC (21 points), Lowell United (20) and Iraq FC (19).

Boston City FC II’s first-ever BSSL match was at home to Saturday’s opponent Worcester Warriors, when a Raffi DeSouza hat-trick earned a 3-0 win. The striker is unavailable during the fall as he plays with UMass Boston, where he has got off to a scoring start with the Beacons.

Jhonata Batista (pictured), who scored the winning U.S. Open Cup goal, is available up front for a Lions side captained by wing back Michael Rincon.

Boston City II faces a tough run in to end the season with clashes against top of the table Alleghany FC and promotion rivals North Shore FC and Iraq FC among six remaining matches.
