Named captain for the 2018 season, Gabriel was the team’s only ever-present, playing 900 minutes in all 10 matches. He has played a total of 2,977 matches, which places him second all-time behind defensive partner Marcelo Cunha.
Gabriel was also deployed on the right side of the defense towards the end of 2018 and contributed two assists.
Gabriel’s 2017 season was impacted by an injury suffered in training and he missed six matches in the middle of the campaign. When available, he was an automatic starter and marked his comeback with a headed goal from a corner in a 3-3 draw at Hartford City.
An ever-present at the heart of the Lions’ defense until injury ruled him out of the final three regular season matches, Gabriel was one of the stars of the 2016 season and was recognized with selection to the NPSL all-first team squad.
Gabriel scored the goal that earned Boston City the club’s first-ever victory, a 1-0 win at home to Seacoast United Phantoms. He logged 1290 minutes of playing time and collected only one yellow card all season.
He played with Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians juniors in his native Brazil.
