Live Text Updates – Boston City FC vs Kingston Stockade

That’s all from us for now at a jubilant Harry Della Russo Stadium where William Balanta, Willian Bonora, Francisco Neto and Avner Alves all scored their first-ever goals for Boston City in a crazy 4-2 win.

4-2 Boston City FC win snaps an 11-match unbeaten streak for Stockade FC who have still NEVER won in Boston. Not in our house! It also means Kingston can’t quality for the NPSL playoffs.

90+ 7 Avner Alves makes it 4-2 to Boston City from the spot and Stockade are out of NPSL playoff contention.

90+4 and it’s a second penalty to Boston City as Pedro Silva is floored and needs treatment.

4 minutes seems to be the added time amount… 10 seconds remaining in that case.

90+2 corner to Kingston and everyone is forward, but it comes to nothing.

90′ We’re into added time… Lions lead 3-2.

87′ Boston City temporarily down to 10 men, but Leonardo Carvalho is ok to returning following treatment. Scott Zobre is schooled by Jonathan Argueta and Danilo Markovic gets a yellow card for Kingston.

82′ Francisco Neto beats four defenders with some amazing trickery and is bundled over in the penalty area for a clear spot kick. Neto himself steps up to take responsibility… makes no mistake, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2 to the Lions.

80′ A superb one-handed block and then second save from Jason Katz to keep out Matt Koziol both times when it seemed certain Stockade were about to take the lead. The visitors are piling on the pressure.

79′ Yellow card to William Balanta, Boston City’s first goal scorer tonight, for encroaching at a free kick.

78′ Justin Jaime is sprung free on the left and cuts inside but fires wide with Jason Katz covering the near post anyway.

76′ It was inevitable really. The Stockade draw level at 2-2 as one of a sting of corners finally produces a goal as Afonso Pinheiro fires from from 15 yards out.

73′ The Lions look dangerous on the break with Francisco Neto and Willian Bonora bursting forward when they get a chance to counter against a Stockade side scrapping for an equalizer and they force yet another corner. Danger cleared.

71′ Sub Colantuolo’s shot is deflected away by Ralph Angrand who wins the header from the resulting corner as the Boston City rearguard is defiant in fighting for that first home win of the season, which would end the Stockade’s playoff hopes.

69′ A cross becomes a shot as Jason Katz is forced to tip the ball over for a corner, Ralph Angrand heads clear for a second corner for the Stockade, but the resulting header fails to trouble the home goal. Still 2-1 to the hosts.

66′ That should have been 3-1 and perhaps goodnight Stockade FC as Francisco Neto exploits a hole at the back of a defense pushing forward and squares for sub Jonathan Argueta, who controls the ball, but screws his shot wide with only the keeper to beat.

60′ A sub for each side as Jonathan Argueta replaces Samuel Deossa for Boston City, while Kingston send on Vinny Colantuono for Brady van Epps.

50′ Boston City assistant coach Cesar Deossa is sent to the locker room after protesting the penalty call to the fourth official.

49′ The iffy offside call is evened up as the Stockade are awarded a soft penalty which Afonso Pinheiro tucks inside the left hand post as Jason Katz goes the wrong way. 2-1 to Boston City.

30 seconds into the second half, Francisco Neto breaks free and whistles a shot over the crossbar.

2-0 at halftime and the rain clouds have returned. Hopefully there’s no lightning to dampen the potential for a first Boston City home win of the season and a first Stockade loss since the opening weekend of the season.

38′ Stockade clip the woodwork again, this time the outside of the upright by Brady Van Epps.

37′ First yellow card of the match goes to Boston City’s Leonardo Carvalho, who has looked solid on his return to the team in the heart of defense.

36′ Alfonso Pinheiro puts a tame header over.

Out the ground! Jadson Leite’s cannon of a left foot blasts a clearance over the main stand and out onto Park Avenue, where it lodges beneath a parked car.

The Dutch Guard are in fine voice (and drum) as try to inspire their team back into NPSL playoff contention while down 2-0. Realistically Kingston need to win this unless they’re going to beat the Cosmos next week.

29′ A spinning shot by Paul Makaj is parried by Boston City keeper Jason Katz and Matt Koziol slices the rebound wide, but is flagged offside anyway.

Willian Bonoro has arguably been Boston City’s best player this season, one of a few highlights this year. He’s played both full back positions, today lines up in midfield and has his first Lions goal to make it 2-0. The young Brazilian showed great composure in keeping his head to score the second goal.

24′ On the counter attack, Willian Bonoro looks as surprised as anyone to find himself ruled onside as he has the entire Stockade half to control and coolly slot home Boston City’s second goal of the match. 2-0

24′ Justin Jaime rockets one off the cross bar for the Stockade.

22′ Fourth Stockade corner of the match, the giant Danilo Markovic climbs highest at the far post but his downward header is gathered by Jason Katz.

21′ Willian Bonora heads a ball while almost colliding with the Stockade bench and bizarrely no throw in is called.

15′ GOAL BOSTON CITY FC!  A great move down the left as Francisco Neto feeds Willian Bonora, he beats his marker to the end line, crosses high over the defenders, William Balanta controls and buries a low shot inside the far left post beyond the grasp of keeper Jared Mazzola. 1-0

14′ played. Stockade looking more likely to threaten but only two wayward shots of note. 0-0

Makeshift Boston City, missing all players who have scored goals this season (Jhonata Batista, John Dumbuya, Hugo Bomfim, Rigoberto) line up with Jason Katz in goal, RB Jeremy Pachter, CB Ralph Angrand, CB Leonardo Carvalho (first start of 2019), LB Jadson Leite (returning from suspension from 2018), CM Avner Alves, CM Pedro Silva, CM Francisco Neto, RM William Balanta, LM Willian Bonora, F Smuel Deossa.

8′ Jadson Leite and Jeremy Pachter are unable to clear the danger inside the Lions penalty area and Brady Van Epps lines up a shot, but blasts over.

3′ Stockade win two corners in a row. From the second, with 4′ played Justin Jaime fires well over the top after the initial danger had been cleared.

> 20 minutes until kickoff, no sign of those pesky thunderstorms that were swirling around earlier.

In the absence of a broadcast of today’s match between Boston City FC and Kingston Stockade due to technical issues, a running text of live updates will appear here throughout the match.
