Boston City II will participate in the opening stages of the competition with the aim of progressing to the main 2019 knockout stages to join clubs who are entered automatically from the National Premier Soccer League, Premier Development League, United Soccer League and Major League Soccer.

Subsequent rounds for the winning team will be played on October 20 or 21 and November 17 or 18.

The Lions’ matches are presented by Boston-based recruiting firm The Gaisce Group and they kicked off the second half of the BSSL Division 3 North season this past Saturday with a 3-2 home win to climb to fifth place in the table with a 5-3-1 record.

Juve Pro Soccer finished in sixth place in the nine-team UPSL Patriot Division with a 4-6-2 record, missing out on the playoffs. The two sides have never met before.

In 2017, Boston City FC won the club’s first-ever Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match 5-4 in a penalty shootout after an exciting 2-2 draw, away to the Western Mass Pioneers. In the second round, the Lions suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to the BSSL Division One champion GPS Omens.
