Alleghany 3 Boston City FC U20s 2

Boston City FC Under 20s snatched defeat from the jaws of victory on Saturday morning as they conceded two goals in the final two minutes of regulation time to lose 3-2 away to Alleghany FC.

Two goals from striker Pedro Ramos had looked to have earned the young Lions a second straight win after last week’s inaugural home victory, but it was Alleghany who came away with the three points.

Coach Cesar Deossa’s aquad were without last week’s hat-trick hero Rafael Desouza but fielded first team defender Marcelo Cunha in a holding midfield role and also handed a debut to Brazilian keeper Symon Casagrande.

Boston City FC Under 20s are in action again on Monday night at 6.30pm at Malden Catholic High School when BRFC Druids, who have lost their opening two league matches, are the visitors in the BSSL McKenzie Open Cup.

The hosts opened an early lead after only six minutes through Kevin Gil, but four minutes later Ramos equalized after a free kick worked between Roman Davis and Adrian Marques.

Emanuel Nunes saw a short saved on the quarter hour mark and Alleghany came close in reply with a shot just over the bar and the teams who started the day in joint second place in the BSSL Division 3 North table went in level at 1-1 at halftime.

Davis fired wide from 25 yards out four minutes after the restart and Ramos might have taken the lead on the end of a Samuel Deossa through ball, but home keeper Click raced from his line to clear.

Alleghany hit the post and had an effort ruled out for offside, but it was Boston City FC U20s who took a 2-1 lead after 68 minutes when Matheus Pedro set up Ramos for his second goal.

The Lions looked likely to claim the victory until a minute from time when Daniel Monteiro conceded a penalty and Carlos Martinez beat the outstretched arms of Casagrande, who had guessed correctly and dived low to his left.

As the clock ticked on to 90 minutes, Gil hit the bottom corner for his second goal and the winner in a late 3-2 comeback.

Davis might have saved a point for the Lions four minutes into added time, but his shot from 25 yards out flew wide.
