Boston City FC Under 20s will kick off the Bay State Soccer League (BSSL) season in knockout cup action on March 31 and will open Division 3 North league play on April 7.
Led by head coach Cesar Deossa, who played professionally in his native Colombia, the young Lions will play home matches at Daly Field in Brighton. The Under 20s will form part of the club’s ongoing development initiative and players will have an opportunity to progress to the Boston City first team, which currently competes in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).
The Under 20s will play the team’s first-ever match against fellow Division 3 North side BRFC Druids in the BSSL Cup on Saturday, March 31, with the winners earning an April 28 trip to take on Providence City, who won the Division 3 South championship last season.
BSSL Division 3 North league action kicks off at home to Worcester Warriors on April 7, followed by a visit to Alleghany FC, who finished in fourth place last season, on April 14 and a home clash with Team Iraq on April 21.
The Under 20s will play nine league matches between April 7 and June 23, before resuming with nine more matches between August 25 and October 27, targeting a place in the BSSL playoffs in November.
The BSSL is a premier adult amateur league with 40 teams in four divisions, governed by the Massachusetts Adult State Soccer Association and affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation.
Dedicated tryouts for the Boston City FC Under 20s BSSL team will be announced soon through the club’s website www.BostonCityFC.com and social media platforms.
